Arts Fund Application Guide
To guide your overall application process, consider the following questions:
Is the grant money going towards a tangible project that can be presented at the Arts Fund Showcase in the Spring semester?
How will you effectively display your project at the showcase?
Is the project unique and innovative?
Is the project separate from a CIO, and if not, is there a demonstrated need for funding in addition to annual CIO funding?
NOTE: CIOs must also report all revenue streams and expenditures to receive funds.

This consists of the bulk of the application. Questions include:
Have you applied to the Arts Fund previously? If so, did you receive funding? Why or why not?
Describe your project in less than 400 words, especially explaining how the items you’re requesting are essential to its execution.
In 100 words, list any previous experience, interest, and/or background in this discipline. Feel free to include roadblocks hindering prior involvement and how the Arts Fund could remove them, or use this space to express the depth of your participation and how you plan to continue.
Are you able to attend the Arts Fund Gallery mid-April?
How did you hear about the Arts Fund?
In general, we recommend that you argue for the merit of your project and why your specific items are necessary for completing it. The more concise and thoroughly reasoned your application, the higher the likelihood that we will be able to provide funding. Though we are invested in you as a creator on a personal level, our budget is limited and must be distributed according to strict SAF criteria. Help us help you!

This section shares your options for accessing your funding.
Student Council can directly purchase your materials. In this case, please specify:
If you need your items shipped somewhere other than Newcomb, providing your preferred shipping address.
Your timeline. If any prices are affected by temporary discounts, if you want to complete your project by a certain date, or if there are any other time-sensitive issues, please include them in the last question.
Student Council can reimburse your purchases. This route is typically pursued when we are unable to fund 100% of your project but you still have the means to go through with it. You can purchase the item yourself and request reimbursement for your allocated amount.
Request a Supplier Number to begin this process here.
You will then provide the following information:
Excel spreadsheet of a budget, using the sample and template budget shared on this spreadsheet.
Justification for your items, especially taking the time to explain how cheaper alternatives to your materials will not suffice.
External sources from which you plan to request funding, including (but not limited to) the following:
The route of funding you plan to pursue, choosing between the options listed above.
