Accommodations Access Fund (AAF)

The Accommodations Access Fund is a part of the Student Council Support and Access Services Branch (SAS) that partners with the Student Disability Access Center (SDAC).

FALL deadline

The deadline for the first fall funding round is October 18.

Any requests submitted after this deadline will be considered for the second fall funding round. Students should expect to hear back about their decisions by October 25. Please note that, however, the disbursement process through SFS may take up to 4 weeks.

what is our goal?

Our primary goal is to provide support for students in financial need and need accommodations through a Band-Aid relief fund and an Accessibility fund.

How does it work?

All graduate and undergraduate UVA students who are interested in applying for either fund can begin the process by accessing the same application form on the SAS website and/or SDAC.

The application is composed of two parts. First, a 10 part questionnaire, followed by a face to face consultation with an SDAC counselor to better understand the support you need.

Then, your application will be reviewed. Applicants can expect to hear back within 2-3 weeks.

band-aid fund

This fund’s primary purpose is to provide students with monetary aid in times of emergency. This is a one-time use fund that can cover things like prescriptions, copays, and deductibles.

Monetary funds will be distributed either through reimbursements via check or through funds distributed to your SFS account.

Accessibility fund

This fund’s primary purpose is to provide students who are applying to SDAC accommodations and unable to cover specialist and testing.

This fund can be applied to and used in a spectrum of ways such as medical allowance for items like disability parking applications, learning disability Support - purchasing learning resources; tutoring fees, etc., and administrative fees for specialist testing and other resources.
