Accommodations Access Fund (AAF)
The Accommodations Access Fund is a part of the Student Council Support and Access Services Branch (SAS) that partners with the Student Disability Access Center (SDAC).
Please refer to the application form above for the most updated funding round deadlines. If approved for funds, please note that the disbursement process through SFS may take up to 4 weeks.
what is our goal?
Our primary goal is to provide support for students in financial need and need accommodations through a Band-Aid relief fund and an Accessibility fund.
How does it work?
All graduate and undergraduate UVA students who are interested in applying for either fund can begin the process by accessing the same application form on the SAS website and/or SDAC.
The application is composed of two parts. First, a 10 part questionnaire, followed by a face to face consultation with an SDAC counselor to better understand the support you need.
Then, your application will be reviewed. Applicants can expect to hear back within 2-3 weeks.
WHAT WE FUND
Please note that we review each application on a case-by-case basis and cannot guarantee full funding or reimbursement for each request. If funding is approved, we impose a maximum of $2000 worth of disability-funding for each year. Before you apply, please review these general guidelines on the items that our agency does and does not fund.
We Do Fund: Equipment related to disability (insulin pumps, hearing aids, wheelchair, etc), disability treatment, therapy or psychiatric visits, disability testing
We Do Not Fund: *Living expenses (rent, food, car payments), medications/drugs
Honor Statement: We expect that every student abides by the Honor Code. We expect that each student will request and use their funds truthfully and only for the purposes stated in the application. Any violation of this policy is considered a violation of the Honor Code.
*We encourage you to explore other programs of Student Council, along with other organizations at UVA, that do typically fund living expenses. If you have any questions on whether an item can be funded or not, please email studco-accomodations-access@virginia.edu!
